Palm Desert - Our Last Day

We spent our last full day exploring the resort.  Oliver had noticed the golf courses all around us and wanted to play so Nick took him to the putting green with Abby tagging along.  When Evelyn and I caught up to them, Abby was climbing on these giant desert animals.  The bird was the favorite - Evelyn said that the lizard was too scary and Abby declared the turtle too slow.

The tail feathers made an excellent slide.

Random bus in the kids' activity center.  Abby continued to practice her climbing skills on the rock wall.

 Evelyn loved the teeter totter!

So, it wasn't exactly hot when we were in the desert but the kids really, REALLY wanted to go swimming and try out the water slide.  Nick and I speculated that they would last 30 minutes at the most but they surprised us by fighting off the cold for a whole hour.

The slide deserves the credit.  It was awesome and - not surprisingly - pretty empty.  Less than 10 kids were taking turns so there was never a long wait in the cold.

Abby would slide down and then head right back up to the slide.

Oliver loved it too.

As he gained confidence, his slides became wackier.

Abby caught air on some of her slides.

Daddy was a rockstar and watched Evelyn in the kiddie pool.

It was perfect for her because she likes to swim herself!

After swimming, I started packing up while the kids played Wii in our room and Nick went to get a massage.  The night ended with a cozy screening of Pete's Dragon.  The kids had never seen it and they laughed and giggled through much of the film.
