This year, when I asked Oliver what kind of a birthday party he wanted, he told me he really wanted a Lego Star Wars party. Lego Star Wars is one of his favorite video games right now but I didn't want him to play it at the party - plenty of time for video game parties when he's older - so we broadened the theme to include all things Star Wars.
I really wanted this party to be custom-made for Oliver, especially with a new baby girl arriving next month, so it became our special project. He tested most of the "Jedi training activities" before the party and when I found a picture of a homemade Jedi Robe online, he was really excited about it. We asked his friends to bring their toy light sabers, if they had one, and I made Jedi Robes (11 of them!) for Oliver, Abby and all of the guests. The kids had fun dressing up, playing games and eating pizza and cupcakes. It was an unforgettable day!

"Destroy the Death Star" - Nick drew an awesome chalk Death Star on the driveway and the young Padawans 'destroyed' it with a barrage of water balloons.
"Tie Fighter Frisbee" - The Jedis took turns flying their discs through a kid-sized hula hoop.
Their aim was pretty good by the end!
After completing a few training activities, the kids received recognition with a special Star Wars tattoo.

Pizza!
